Plan for Rain
Unfortunately, the best times to camp are also the rainy seasons. Similar to the spring, you’re most likely to encounter rain during fall, so be sure to plan ahead. Bring plenty of tarps. Keep all of your outdoor equipment safe and dry.
Take a Hike in the Morning
One of the best ways to wake up in the fall and shake off the morning chill is to get out on the trails. Taking a morning hike first thing will help you get your blood pumping and make it easier to stay warm throughout the day.
Pack Plenty of Blankets
Whenever we go camping on the phone, we make sure to pack plenty of blankets. These are great for using around the campfire if you’re chilly, and they’re perfect for laying out in the grass on a sunny afternoon.
Bring Warm Drinks
Bring plenty of warm drinks to enjoy in the morning and evening to help keep cold fingers warm. We like to bring coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and apple cider.
Pack Layers
Another way to keep yourself comfortable all day long is to pack in layers. Because of the changing temperatures during the fall, you’re likely to experience chilly mornings and warm afternoons that give way to cold nights. Pack plenty of liners as well as some T-shirts and jackets or hoodies.
Prepare for Chilly Nights
As mentioned above, it’s likely to get chilly at night, so be sure you are prepared. Make sure you pack hats and blankets, as well as mittens, in case it gets really chilly. Another great way to warm up is to plan to cook around her campfire by roasting s’mores and hotdogs.
